Federal agents deliver grand jury subpoenas to New York Times reporters' homes
The Justice Department served grand jury subpoenas on New York Times reporters over their Air Force One reporting, with federal agents delivering them to some reporters' homes on the Friday evening.
What happened
The subpoenas seek to force the reporters to testify before a federal grand jury in Manhattan, the Times reported. They were issued by U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton of the Southern District of New York, who had recently been nominated by Trump to be the next national intelligence director. Before the Times published the article at issue, a senior FBI official had contacted a reporter and editor and asked that the story be held, without explaining why, and also asked that the sources be identified.
Why it matters
