The Army opens a $20 billion Anduril account
The Army signed an enterprise agreement with Anduril consolidating all 120 of its contracts with the company into a single mechanism, with a potential ceiling of $20 billion over up to 10 years. The agreement runs an initial five-year base period with one five-year option and centres on Anduril's Lattice platform; it follows a comparable Army agreement with Palantir in August that consolidated 75 contracts under a $10 billion ceiling.
What happened
Lattice is Anduril's sensor-fusion platform, and it already operates inside the United States. CBP has fielded Anduril's autonomous Sentry towers on the southwest border since a 2019 pilot of five towers, and has separately bought more than 200 Extended Range Sentry Towers for $363 million — hardware that, per ExecutiveBiz, "integrates with the existing Sentry tower networks and Anduril's Lattice software." FedScoop, reporting an earlier expansion, described how the towers behave: "Only if Lattice algorithms find something of relevance will the tower turn on its radio to transmit that information to CBP."
Why it matters
The Army agreement does not itself deploy anything inside the United States, and the reporting on it is about battlefield software. Its domestic significance is what it consolidates: up to $20 billion of federal purchasing routed to a single vendor and a single platform that already runs on the southwest border, where Lattice algorithms determine what a CBP agent ever sees. The Army's stated purpose for the structure is pre-negotiated pricing so it can "buy goods and services as it needs them" — which is to say the decision to field more of a capability becomes an order against an existing account rather than a new contract.
