Companies backed by Trump's sons have generated $3.2 billion in direct government business
A Washington Post investigation tallied 15 companies with investment from Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. Together they have generated at least $3.2 billion in direct government business since the sons invested. A further $3.1 billion sits in future contract options.
What happened
The brothers' investment funds hold stakes in more than a dozen defense-technology companies and other firms seeking Pentagon and federal agency business. Ten of the 15 companies had government business before the sons invested, and eight held contracts under the Biden administration. SpaceX and Anduril alone account for 97 percent of the direct government cash in the Post's tally. Excluding those two, the remaining 13 start-ups captured $103 million in direct cash under this administration after the brothers invested, and nearly $1.8 billion in long-term commitments. Some of the companies have gained spots on shortlists of preapproved contractors that can bid exclusively on up to nearly $200 billion in future work. On August 5, 2026, Senators Elizabeth Warren, Richard Blumenthal and Tammy Duckworth and Representative Robert Garcia asked the Defense Department's inspector general to open an investigation.
Why it matters
Federal money is flowing to companies the president's sons have a stake in, from agencies the president runs. The dollars are public contracts rather than payments to the family.
